Principles
It is our policy that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning ethos. We also believe it is important that certain activities are facilitated by specialised and appropriate clothing when attending school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours. We provide a complete list of the items needed for children’s school uniform in this policy.

Aims
Our policy for children’s school uniform is based on the belief that a school uniform:
• promotes a sense of pride in the school
• creates a feeling of community and belonging
• is practical and smart
• identifies the children with the school
• is not distracting in class (as fashion clothes might be)
• makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance

When is a uniform required?
Children are required to wear the uniform to school at all times. All pupils must wear the uniform when representing the school at events off school property, unless specified. Children are at all times ambassadors for the school, and never more so than when larger groups are on school trips. The children should wear the uniform with pride, as it identifies them as pupils of our school.

• Grey / black trousers or grey / black pinafore or skirt
• White polo shirt
• Grey, black or white socks
• Blue school sweatshirt with logo or blue cardigan
• Grey / black shorts or skirt during the summer term
• Blue gingham dress or blue gingham jumpsuit during the summer term
• Please note school fleeces are not to be worn as indoor clothing. Jumpers or cardigans must be worn for warmth when in the classroom.
• Black shoes with flat heel. Boots and sandals are not appropriate footwear for school. If it is a wet or cold day and your child needs to wear wellies or warm boots to travel to school, please make sure they have normal school shoes to change into.

• White t.shirt
• Dark coloured shorts (tracksuit bottoms for outdoor PE)
• Trainers or pumps

• Pupils with pierced ears may wear a single stud-earring or a pair of stud earrings to school.
• For safety reasons, children must not wear rings to school.
• Children must not wear make-up or nail polish.
• Children should not wear fake tattoos into school

Just as we expect children to dress appropriately for school, we also expect them to adopt a suitable, age appropriate hairstyle.
• Any hair longer than the collar or too near the eyes needs to be tied/fastened back.
• Hair accessories should be kept to the school colours (blue/white/black) and should blend with the hair colour. They should not be too big or distracting.
• Hats, bandanas and headscarves are not to be worn indoors unless in exceptional circumstances where representation should be made in writing to the headteacher.
• We actively discourage extreme hairstyles as they do not complement our school uniform.
• We consider the following extreme :- hair colouring, tramlines, shaven heads, Mohican cuts, extreme patterns and logos or any other style that could draw attention to the child and single them out from the rest of the school.
• If as a school we feel a hairstyle is unsuitable we will ask for this to be rectified.
